Dunkin Donuts Ads with illustrated coffee cups

Cute Dunkin Donuts ads uses illustrated coffee cups with your full day drawn into them.

These Dunkin Donuts ads are made for the Austrian market. The idea is simple, each ad has a photo on a takeout coffee cup lid. Instead of a cup there are tiny illustrations of things you might be doing during the day.

I’ve seen many similar examples like this one before but I think it is a simple format that really works. No need to complicate things, if it works it works.

The ads come in three different colors with three themes for the illustrations for each cup. The pink ad is all about family life. Getting the kids to activities, putting them to bed, shopping for food and all those other things you need to coffee to get through.

The second one is blue and is all about getting work done in the office, pie charts, printers, paper and all that tedious but necessary work. Last out is a green ad which is themed around going to a university. Lectures, libraries and studying. See all the ads below.

Clever Juice Ads for Brämhults Juice in Sweden

Clever Juice Ads for Brämhults Juice in Sweden

Take a look at these clever juice ads for Swedish fresh juice company Brämhults.

These clever Juice Ads was used back in 2013 in Sweden for the fresh juice company Brämhults. So these are not really news but they are so simple and good I thought they deserved a second look.

The idea is that since Brämhults only use fresh fruit and vegetables for their juices they turned them upside down and added some green. So now you can harvest your juice just like you would carrots or beets.

Clever Juice Ads for Brämhults Juice in Sweden

Brämhults Juice is a well known juice brand in Sweden and they are constantly arguing that most of the other juice brands sell “fresh” juice that has been frozen. In some cases for up to two years before consumption. Brämhults on the other hand only uses real fresh fruit.

The problem is that the consumers often doesn’t know that most so called fresh squeezed juices have been frozen or pasteurized and since they themselves only use fresh fruit and vegetables they get a more expensive product and one that can taste slightly different depending on which season it is.

Either way, these ads look great.

Unhealthy Food Logos for the Danish Health Authority

Unhealthy Food Logos

Some Danish students have made a fictional campaign using unhealthy food logos of some of the major food companies. Check them out.

Unhealthy food logos or rather food logos that have had their brand names replaced with words that represent diseases or illnesses. The idea comes from a group of Danish design students who were given the following brief;

“Make a campaign for the Danish Health Authority that creates attention at unhealthy lifestyles and obesity which is a major problem in our society”.

Unhealthy Food Logos

The idea they came up with is not original but still kind of funny, just simply replace the names of each brand with a disease or illness. So instead of Pringles the logo says Forstoppelse which means congestion in Danish.

The campaign is of course fictional, I doubt that the Danish Health Authority would target real brands in a campaign like this, if they would chose to go after so called bad food like this they would most likely go for the actual foods. Like a campaign against burgers or soda. Still a fun project to see and you can read more about it here.

The sound of beer - Norrlands guld beer vinyl record

Listen to The Sound of Beer, Swedish beer label Norrlands Guld have released the sound of beer on a vinyl record. Read all about it.

Ever heard the sound of beer? Of course you have but now you can get the sound of beer on vinyl as well. Swedish beer label Norrlands Guld (The Gold of the North) have recorded the sound of beer.

With some of the most advanced microphones in the world they recorded the sound of a organic Norrlands Guld beer being poured into a glass. Then they sounds have been remixed as new songs by Lindstrom, Kelly Lee Owens and Harald Björk.

All the tracks have been compiled into an eight song record that has been pressed on beer colored vinyl. The vinyl record is made in 500 copies and is available to get at the Swedish record shop Bengans.

Since this record will sell out soon and Norrlands Guld wants all of us to enjoy the sound of beer you can listen to all the tracks on Spotify, Apple Music and Youtube, a short clip can be viewed below.

Norrlands Guld did not hold back when described the sound, this is my (not great) translation of the description of the sound.

Listen to beer. Enjoy the greatest sound of summer. It has been called a mental orgasm. A whisper so quiet that you want to touch the sender. The sound of the ripple of organic bright gold evokes a drumroll against the eardrum which travels to all the parts of you body.

Classic Norrlands Guld Commercial

Norrlands Guld have become known in the last twenty years to make fun and innovative campaigns for their beer in Sweden. One of their most known campaigns is a long running series of commercials featuring a few Swedish sort of hillbillies. The tagline is Norrlands Guld, when you want to be yourself. I’ve featured one of the old ones below, I know it might not make much sense if you don’t speak Swedish but it is one of the reasons why Norrlands Guld is the top selling brand of beer in Sweden.

Drink it cold

At the moment Norrlands Guld have launched another fun campaign, it goes under the tag #shitvakall which translates to “Shit that’s cold”. In this campaign Norrlands Guld have made a big series of films on how you can keep your beer as cold as possible. You can watch one of those below, full the full series head here.

About Norrlands Guld

Norrlands Guld (The Gold of the North) is the highest selling beer in Sweden. The brand was first introduced in 1965 by the Sollefteå Brewery then called Norrlands Öl. The name was changed into its current in 1976 after the brewery was bought. The brand is now owned by Spendrups which is one of the biggest breweries in Sweden with a big range of beer and other drinks.

These Stubbs 1968 ads are made for the classic barbecue sauce Stubbs. At a first glance they don’t seem that special but the more I looked at them the more I liked them. The idea is not new and not original but it looks great and it shows the product in a creative way.

The sauce have been shaped into the same shape as the glass bottle that usually holds the sauce. The label is put in the middle. And in the sauce a description of the sauce have been written.

Andes Beer Commercial Will Give You a Great Night Out

Andes Beer have come up with a plan to help the more average guy get a great night out, see how in this commercial.

In this commercial Andes Beer have made a plan how to help out the average guy get a great night out. The plan is to take all the great looking men in Mendoza and make them come in for a audition for the greatest beer ad of all time. The casting call is on Saturday night.

With all the great looking guys us average Joe’s get a chance for a great night out without it being ruined by all the hunks. During the audition the hunks got to wear great looking clothes or very little clothes and read lines for a camera which was then edited together to bring the message to the rest of us.

This commercial was first released during the fall of 2015 but Andes Beer have a long tradition of helping men get away from their girlfriends to be able to drink beer with their friends instead. I’ve put together a small collection of some of the previous commercials below, enjoy.

Also it is a bit unclear to me why all these men have girlfriends if all they think about is how they are suppose to get away from them but let’s leave that question out of this for now.

The World's Greatest Beer Glass by Cobra Beer

Cobra Beer claims to have invented the World’s greatest beer glass, have a look and judge for yourself.

Agency Karmarama together with Cobra Beer claims to have invented the world’s greatest beer glass. It looks more or less like any other beer glass but according to Karmarama the glass has a special shape which makes the beer flow around the glass into the bottom and on its way releasing flavor, aroma and creating the perfect foam on top of the beer.

The design is said to be made with the help of professors at Imperial College and Birmingham University, those professors are hydrodynamic and fluid mechanics specialists by the way.

The campaign will be used in digital, press, video and social media and is made in a fun way so it doesn’t really matter if the claimed science behind the glass really holds up at all.

Keep a lookout for the glass and the campaign which is coming this summer. (via Adweek).

Cats in a Grocery Store – You need to see this

Do you want to see a video of famous internet Cats in a grocery store? Of course you do, don’t miss this ad for the German supermarket chain Netto, you need to see it.

Cats in a grocery store, I feel like I never written that sentence before. Well this ad for the German supermarket chain Netto is all about cats in stores.

The video features about a handful of cats out shopping in a Netto store. Most of the cats are inspired by some of the famous cats that have been circulating on social media like the No No No cat and the Keyboard Cat, you can see those original clips below.

To make this video the creators from agency Jung von Matt had to build a replica of a Netto store in cat size. Then all you need is lots of cats, cat trainers and director Brian Lee Hughes. Brian decided to wear a catsuit for part of the recording to be able to connect with the cats, and when I hear this quote it looks like it worked.

“We’re not the same species, but I feel like we’re brothers and sisters in a project that will be good for all mankind”. – Brian Lee Hughes

See the making of this cats in a grocery store below and make sure to check out our full food ads coverage.

Here is the behind the scenes video from the cat video, most of it is in German but it’s still worth checking out.

The No No No cat, there are a few hundred versions of this online but this one is a good as most of them.

Another classic cat video, the keyboard playing cat have been around for a long time. This one was uploaded to Youtube in 2007 and is now up to 44 million views. Impressive and depressing at the same time.

Drink what you want – As long as it’s Stoli Vodka

This fun Drink what you want campaign for Stoli Vodka takes a swing at the cool craft beers and cocktails and lets you drink what you want. Flavor shouldn’t be scary even if your chest is hairy.

Stoli Vodka thinks you should Drink what you want. You don’t have to drink that super special craft beer or that smoke flavored vodka. You can drink what you want, hopefully something based on Stoli Vodka of course.

But this is not just a fun way to let young men know that it is ok to get that raspberry drink or that fruity cocktail. Stoli made a survey that showed that even though a majority of men do enjoy yummy cocktails most of them won’t order them out of fear of being mocked by their friends. It’s not easy being a man these days I guess.

The campaign comes with one long version where a young man is sipping a blueberry drink and laying out the reasons why it is ok to drink whatever you want and a few shorter ones that you can watch below.

And remember: Flavor shouldn’t be scary, even if your chest is hairy.

Beer Belly Ads for Bergedorfer Beer

Beer Belly Ads for Bergedorfer

These Beer belly ads for the German beer Bergedorfer could be the worst beer ads I’ve ever seen, but they are kind of funny.

These beer belly beer ads for the German beer brand Bergedorfer is sort of disturbing. I mean, who wants to think about their ever increasing belly when they sit on their ass and working on it getting even bigger? If I would see any of these ads on the way home from work chances are I would rather go for a run than for a beer. Now since the ads isn’t anywhere to see in Sweden where I live I still go for the beer but anyway, right?

Well I guess the people behind these ads get that as well but in advertising most publicity is good publicity and getting the talk going raises the brand awareness which is always a good thing.

The photos are kind of fun as well. Three men with round beer bellies and that loving look you usually only see pregnant women on magazines have. Because surely no one really hugs their belly with a look like that right?

Tiny Toast Ads Could be the Weirdest one this year

General Mills just launched their new cereal Tiny Toast. In the new Tiny Toast Ads they have flipped the roles we have with animals, you need to see this.

These Tiny Toast Ads is not something you’ve seen before. Ever. The idea is to change roles between humans and animals. Because humans can’t resist Tiny Toast. Now that doesn’t sound so weird, but wait til you see the Tiny Toast Ads. It starts out with the on top in this post.

A horse puts some Tiny Toasts in a feeding bag, adds milk and gives the bag a gentle shake. All of a sudden an old woman approaches, leans down and start eating. The short spot ends with the horse petting the woman’s head with its hoof. Done.

And that is just the first Tiny Toast Ad, next is my favorite. A seagull is sitting on a bench snacking on some Tiny Toast. Suddenly there is plenty of interest from the surrounding people. Just watch it.

Next ad is no less strange. Here we have two birds living inside a house. They bring out the Tiny Toast and seconds later a flying human slams against the window looking for some cereal.

Last one takes the price though. A human standing on all fours in a barn gets a back shave from an Irish lamb. Watch this one at your own risk.

Colombian Coffee Took Us To Space, well maybe..

Colombian coffee might have played a small role in making sure humans made it into space, at least in these fun ads for the coffee.

Colombian coffee might have played a small but very important role when man first set out to going to space. You see in the background of every big event there are small things happening. Like a pot of Colombian coffee brewing in the control room of the rocket control room in Houston. We can’t say for sure that it was the Colombian coffee that achieved liftoff that day, but we can’t not say for sure.

This ad is of course made by the Colombian Coffee Growers Federation to make sure we choose Colombian when it comes to coffee.

The campaign is called Greatness is Brewing and the main spot is the one you can see above where the focus is on three different people working in the background of a NASA rocket launching. With their small contribution they made sure that the rocket finally made it to space.

There are also three shorter 15-second versions of the long ad each focused on one of each of the persons who made us get to space. They are all fun and great, and maybe not the hardest working part of space exploration. My personal favorite is the coffee guy flicking used toothpicks in the control room. As a close favorite you have to love the switchboard operator who types with amazing skills.

The campaign is made by the agency Rokkan and there is a webpage set up with more info called Greatness is brewing. The campaign also includes media on Facebook and Instagram. You can use the tag #GreatnessIsBrewing if you want to check it out or contribute.

Here’s my toothpicking throwing space exploring dude.

You have to keep those pencils sharp if we’re gonna make it to space.

Just look at those typing skills.

McFlurry Ads makes ice cream sad in these fun McDonald’s Ads.

McFlurry is the flagship product when it comes to McDonald’s selling cold stuff during summertime and with it comes McFlurry Ads. The obvious contenders are regular ice cream. TBWA Portugal decided to take a clever swing at the contenders by creating these clever ads.

Each ad shows a person holding a McFlurry. From the photos I have to agree that I would not turn down one of those on a hot day. Each person is wearing a hipster style t-shirt with an ice cream print. The fun detail is that the ice creams printed on each shirt is sad or scared.

At a first glance it is easy to miss but look closer and you’ll see that poor sad popsicle with a tear running down.. eeh cheek? The scared cone of ice cream is not something you want to see either is it?

Only problem with this is that you might feel sad for the popsicles. Maybe you’ll end up going for a regular ice cream instead of a McFlurry just to make them feel better.

We have a bunch of other McDonald’s related stuff here at Ateriet, make sure to check that out.

Chipotle A Love Story is aiming right for your heart

Chipotle A Love Story is aiming right for your heart

Chipotle A Love Story is a new short film about squeezing lemons and oranges, returning to your roots and finding love. Watch it.

Chipotle A Love Story is the third ambitious animated short film from the burrito selling American giant. All of the animated shorts from Pixar, sorry Chipotle comes with plenty of moral issues and simple storytelling aimed straight for your heart. And they are doing a good job doing so.  The soundtrack for A Love Story is I want it that way, it is performed by Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes and Jim James of My Morning Jacket.

What is it about?

Chipotle A Love Story is about a boy and a girl. Each one have set up a stand to sell beverages. The girl sells lemonade, the boy orange juice. In an attempt to get some money to take the girl out on a date the young boy decides to market his orange juice.

With this he accidently start off a marketing war between lemons and oranges making the boy and girl competitors and turning the small stands into two food giants. The stand are now called Mister Orange and Lemon Land, both looking like a freshly built casino from The strip in Las Vegas.

It’s by now they both realize that they stepped too far away from their original idea. They walk through their factories and discover that there are no real lemons around anymore, only processed food and flavors made by robots. Eventually they both get kicked out of their factories and accidently meet.

They realize how far away from where they started out they’ve come and together they start up some sort of organic taco shop instead. The end.

Despite its moral pointers it’s still good

This may sound incredibly cheesy and the kind of moral short film that makes you throw up in your mouth a little bit. But for me it really doesn’t. There are some reasons for that. Despite its recent troubles Chipotle is not a bad company. They try harder than most to do good. The film is not packed with lots of selling of stuff, no special taco you can get for a limited time or anything like that at all. If Chipotle really only wanted to sell they could just spend this money on making one giant cheap burrito sale campaign instead. But they don’t, that’s why I like this.

Previous Chipotle Animated Films

Chipotle have put out two of these more ambitious animated shorts before. I liked them both. Just like with Chipotle A Love Story they take a similar slam against big food and features exclusive music. All the Chipotle animated shorts have become hits on Youtube. A Love Story have been out for a few weeks and have been viewed more than 6 million times. The first one was called Back To The Start and has 9 million views and The Scarecrow which was the second one is up to 16 million views. Let’s take a look at the old ones too.

Back to the Start

Back to the start was released in 2011. The music is The Scientist, a Coldplay song performed by country legend Willie Nelson.

The Scarecrow

The Scarecrow was released in 2013. The film also came with a game for smartphones. The song Pure Imagination is used in the soundtrack and is performed by Fiona Apple.

McDonald’s Beautiful Black and White Ads Show Almost Nothing

See these beautiful McDonald’s Black and White Ads, they show almost nothing, besides always being open.

We’ve found a number of creative McDonalds ads through the years. These black and white ads really do stand out. The ads come in a series of three and it is some of the most discreet type of advertising I’ve seen for a long time.

All three black and white ads are artistic photos of night time in Thailand. But not the type of nighttime that many tourists might sadly associate Thailand with. Instead we see a gang of kids riding BMX bikes. A hairdresser working a late night shift and an man ironing clothes in a basement.

In each photo we can see the McDonald’s logo and a sign that says open 24 Hours in a reflection. In the BMX photo you see it in some water on the asphalt. In the other two the logo and message is reflected in windows. This really is creative advertising done right.

The campaign is made by TBWA Thailand, for more on McDonald’s browse through our full coverage here.
